why do good? :)
It may look so innate for some to act with good morality and etiquettes, yet it sounds ghastly for some to hear even only the phrases “be good, be kind, be gentle, be subtle, and so on… “. However, a man, in order to be a human must struggle to be decent, respectable, reasonable, and adequate by abiding the laws of his society, his world, and especially the laws of his Creator no matter how hard his life is, and no matter what pains and difficulties he had come to encounter. Maybe, that is the simplest answer from the question “Why should I be good?” Yes, it is uneasy to become a truly kind-hearted person behind the fact that the world is not fair. Some people have a luxurious life without even working real hard yet some starve to death. Some have friends who stay by their side ‘til the sun drops down yet some stay alone from morning ‘til dawn. Some have families who were tightly close to one another yet some families are broken. Some have lovers who were faithful with their partners yet some were betrayed for no good reason. Some are healthy yet some are sickly. Some can go abroad and have country to country trips yet some can’t even pay for a jeepney fair. Things like those were examples of the one-sidedness of life, but even with those circumstances we must not fail our existence. When we think of doing evil because of then hatreds we have for people or things that hurt us from the past, or in the present, we must think first of all the blessings that were given to us. We don’t owe anyone the desolation we feel because being happy is a choice in the first place. People might be stubborn to us, but we must still be good to them. Enemies must be loved. Difficulties must be treasured. Therefore, we must be good enough because when others intentionally step on us, we tend to lift them up. Meaning, we help them.
